Mets' Christian Scott: Excellent in Triple-A start
Rotowire
Scott gave up one run on two hits and one walk while striking out seven in five innings Wednesday for Triple-A Syracuse.
The Mets are keeping Scott on turn while he's waiting at Triple-A to rejoin the big-league rotation. While the Mets have five starters in the rotation currently, Scott figures to re-enter the mix as early as next week.

Mets' Harrison Bader: Drives in three against Nats
Rotowire
Bader went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
The 30-year-old brought home Tyrone Taylor with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning before knocking a two-run double in the sixth. Bader has produced multiple RBI in three straight games, and on the season he carries a .272/.317/.376 slash line with three homers, eight steals, 21 runs and 23 RBI in 55 contests.

Mets' Francisco Lindor: Clubs homer No. 10
Rotowire
Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
The shortstop produced his fourth multi-hit performance in the last seven games as he continues to heat up. Lindor has hit safely in 14 of the last 15 contests, slashing .359/.406/.594 over that stretch with three homers, three steals, seven runs and nine RBI.

Mets' Francisco Alvarez: Set to catch on consecutive days
Rotowire
Alvarez (thumb) will be behind the plate for Triple-A Syracuse on both Friday and Saturday before serving as the designated hitter Sunday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
The young catcher is on track to return from a fractured left thumb early next week when the Mets return from London, but the organization will put him through his paces this weekend to make sure he's ready. Alvarez caught a combined no-hitter with High-A Brooklyn on Tuesday, and he's drawn praise from coaches for the work he's put in during his rehab assignment. While his thumb will remain in a splint for a while yet, he should immediately slot back in as New York's starting catcher when he returns, although his backup -- whether that's Tomas Nido or Luis Torrens -- could still see a bigger workload in the short term as Alvarez gets eased back into action.

Mets' Luis Torrens: Goes yard twice in rout
Rotowire
Torrens went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Nationals.
The backstop took Patrick Corbin deep in the third and sixth innings as he produced his first multi-homer game in the majors in nearly three years. Torrens has started three of four games since joining the Mets, going 3-for-10 with his third hit being a double, and the 28-year-old is making a strong case to stick around as the No. 2 catcher instead of Tomas Nido when Francisco Alvarez (thumb) comes off the IL next week.

Mets' Luis Severino: Dazzles in fourth win
Rotowire
Severino (4-2) picked up the win in Wednesday's 9-1 rout of the Nationals, allowing one run on seven hits over eight innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.
The right-hander took a shutout into the eighth inning before three straight singles to lead off the frame finally got Washington on the board. Severino hadn't even allowed a runner to reach second base prior to that, and he left the mound having thrown an efficient 92 pitches (62 strikes). The quality start was his fifth of the year, and he'll take a 3.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 58:27 K:BB through 72 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Marlins.

Mets' Edwin Diaz: Beginning rehab assignment
Rotowire
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.
Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others.

Mets' Starling Marte: Scratched due to knee issue
Rotowire
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte was scratched from the lineup prior to Wednesday's game in Washington due to a right knee issue, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Though he played all nine innings of Tuesday's 6-3 win while going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, two runs and two RBI, Marte informed the Mets on Wednesday that his knee was bothering him at points during the previous night's game. The Mets elected to scratch Marte from the lineup for the series finale as a matter of precaution, but Mendoza said that he has a low level of concern for the outfielder's injury. Marte will still be available off the bench Wednesday, and with off days Thursday and Friday, the expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup Saturday for the start of the Mets' two-game series in London versus the Phillies.

Mets' Shintaro Fujinami: Shifted to 60-day IL
Rotowire
The Mets transferred Fujinami (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for catcher Joe Hudson, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday. Fujinami has been out all season with a right shoulder strain and is expected to remain out until after the All-Star break.

Mets' Joe Hudson: Contract selected
Rotowire
The Mets selected Hudson's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday and optioned him to Syracuse.
The Mets will be allowed a 27-man roster for their series in London this weekend against the Phillies, and Hudson would appear to be a good bet to join the big club as a third catcher. Hudson, who has posted an .808 OPS over 66 plate appearances with Syracuse this season, last appeared in the majors in 2020.

Mets' Starling Marte: Scratched from Wednesday's lineup
Rotowire
Marte was scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals for an unspecified reason.
The Mets haven't provided an immediate explanation for why Marte was removed from the starting nine, but the team should offer an update later Wednesday. Tyrone Taylor will enter the lineup as a replacement for Marte, who had started in both of the first two games of the series in Washington while going 4-for-8 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base, four runs and two RBI.

Mets' Dedniel Nunez: Collects second hold
Rotowire
Nunez struck out one in 1.1 perfect innings of relief Tuesday to record his second hold of the season in a win over the Nationals.
Making his eighth career MLB appearance, the right-hander provided the Mets' beleaguered bullpen with some crucial high-leverage help. Nunez is in his third stint this year on the big-league roster, but he might stick around for good this time around -- through 11.2 innings he sports a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 19:3 K:BB. With Edwin Diaz (shoulder) still sidelined and Reed Garrett, Adam Ottavino and Jake Diekman all struggling, it's not out of the question that Nunez will get added to the saves mix in the short term.

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Swipes fifth bag
Rotowire
Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.
Hitting third against rookie lefty DJ Herz, Nimmo reached base three times in a game for the first time since May 5. The on-base machine is batting just .222 on the season, but he sports a .350 OBP thanks to a 13.4 percent walk rate, his highest mark since 2021. Nimmo's added seven homers, five steals, 31 runs and 31 RBI in 58 games to his ledger.

Mets' Harrison Bader: Pops third homer
Rotowire
Bader went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.
The center fielder took rookie southpaw DJ Herz deep in the fourth inning to open the scoring on the night. Bader has taken a step forward offensively since mid-May, slashing .281/.328/.474 over his last 20 games with two of his three homers on the season along with three steals, five runs and 13 RBI.

Mets' Tomas Nido: Taking seat Wednesday
Rotowire
Nido is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
After catching seven innings of the Mets' 6-3 win Tuesday night, Nido will get a breather Wednesday as the NL East rivals wrap up their series with a day game. Luis Torrens will check in behind the plate for Nido on Wednesday.

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Hitting bench against lefty again
Rotowire
McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The Mets have opposed left-handed starting pitchers in three straight games, and the lefty-hitting McNeil has been on the bench for each of those contests. McNeil hasn't been a strict platoon player for much of his tenure with the Mets, but manager Carlos Mendoza has chosen to limit the 32-year-old's exposure to southpaws while he's mustered a modest .275 wOBA over 69 plate appearances against lefties on the season. McNeil hasn't fared much better against right-handed pitching either (.281 wOBA in 155 plate appearances), but the Mets haven't offered any indication that he's at risk of losing out on starts in those matchups.

Mets' Pete Alonso: Slugs 14th homer
Rotowire
Alonso went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Nationals.
The first baseman took Washington closer Kyle Finnegan deep to left field in the ninth inning to give the Mets an insurance run. Alonso's racked up seven hits, including three doubles and two homers, over the last six games, and since May 7 he's slashing .279/.330/.548 in 26 contests with six of his 14 long balls and 15 of his 31 RBI on the season.

Mets' David Peterson: Efficient in first win
Rotowire
Peterson (1-0) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings in a 6-3 victory over the Nationals. He struck out two.
The southpaw wasn't dominant, but he threw an efficient 81 pitches (52 strikes) as he recorded his first big-league win since July 27 of last year, which coincidentally was also against Washington. Peterson has made a good case so far for sticking in the Mets' rotation, allowing four earned runs in 11.2 innings over his first two starts. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Marlins.
